IRON OXIDE RED PIGMENTS

What is Iron Oxide Red?

Also known as oxide red, it is an inorganic color pigment, presented in the form of a bright red powder with fine and delicate particles.

It has excellent resistance to light, high temperatures, atmospheric effects, pollutant gases and all alkalis.

It has a high covering power, high pigmentation capacity and good dispersion.

What are iron oxide red pigments?

Iron oxide pigments are materials with excellent dispersion and outstanding lightfastness and weathering properties. These pigments mainly include four color categories: red, yellow, black and brown, with red iron oxide being the most widely used, accounting for approximately 50% of all iron oxide pigments. Other types include micaceous iron oxides (used as anti-corrosion pigments) and magnetic iron oxides (used in magnetic recording materials).

Iron oxide is the second largest inorganic pigment after titanium dioxide and the main inorganic color pigment. More than 70% of iron oxide pigments are produced by chemical synthesis, resulting in a product with high purity, uniform particles, wide color range, affordable price, non-toxic, and excellent coloring and performance properties. For these reasons, it is widely used in construction, paints, plastics, electronics, rubber, ceramics, ink, magnetic materials and paper manufacturing.

Advantages and uses of red oxide pigment

Advantages of Iron Oxide Red Pigments

– The products have excellent resistance to light, high temperatures, acids, alkalis and anti-corrosion properties.

– They offer vivid colors, high pigmentation and great covering power.

– The powder is natural, delicate, has no oily or water-absorbing properties, and is non-toxic.

– Developed and produced in-house with meticulous processes and multiple quality checks to ensure product excellence.

Main Uses of Iron Oxide Red Pigments

In the Building Materials Industry

– Mainly used in colored cement, cement tiles, colored cement roof tiles, ceramic tiles, concrete tiles, colored mortars, colored asphalt, terrazzo, mosaics, artificial marble and wall paint.

For Coloring and Protecting Coatings

– Applied in water-based interior and exterior wall paints, powder coatings and oil paints, such as epoxy, alkyd and amino paints. It is also used in paints for toys, decoration, furniture, electrophoretic paint and enamels. Red oxide anticorrosive primer can replace expensive lead-based paints, saving non-ferrous metals.

Coloring Plastic Products

– Suitable for thermosetting plastics, thermoplastic plastics and rubber products such as inner tubes for automobiles, airplanes and bicycles.

In Advanced Polishing Materials

– Used in the polishing of precision instruments and optical glass. High purity versions are the main raw material for powder metallurgy, used to produce various magnetic alloys and advanced alloy steels. It is obtained by high-temperature calcination of ferrous sulfate, yellow iron oxide or iron residue, or directly from a liquid medium.
